Welcome to Urban Housing of America, Inc., LA where our mission is to create stable, vibrant, and healthy communities by developing, financing, and managing affordable housing for very low income or no income families in need of clean and safe housing.

Urban Housing of America, LA, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to ensuring that our residents have affordable, clean, and safe places to live and thrive. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that these families in need can live full and respectable lives.

This year we celebrate 25 years of developing affordable housing that supports underprivileged and very low-income families. Our affordable housing communities consist of 1–to 4-bedroom apartments, townhomes, duplexes, and senior garden walk-up residences. Our 20+ properties are currently located throughout the state of Louisiana in various cities such as Shreveport, Sarepta, Princeton, Jonesboro, Cullen, Monroe, Minden, Richwood, Hodge, West Monroe, Monroe, Grayson, Baker, Princeton, and Delhi.

We know that there is dignity in being a part of a supportive community, as it offers a solid foundation to build upon. At the core of our culture is our commitment to creating a more humane environment for Louisiana residents. To accomplish this, we interact with investment developers, state, and federal agencies, and financial institutions. Since 1997, we have worked to create a supportive culture in the communities we have developed.

Louisiana is currently experiencing an economic crisis due to multi storm disasters that have displaced persons at no fault of their own. Access to affordable housing for families that have been economically impacted by these environmental incidents has risen to one of the top demands in this state.

Housing development is not all that we do. Our Vision is to create a more humane community where persons living in impoverished housing communities can access an affordable and healthier option for developing their full potential. Urban Housing of America, Inc., LA believes that affordable housing and supportive programs improve the economic status of Louisiana residents and stabilize the lives of families that would otherwise be homeless.

Our housing programs include proving community services to residents by:

  • Establishing on-site property business centers where residents can access community provisions and resources.

  • Providing access to the use of computers and technology for educational and community outreach resources.

  • Bringing in free food resources

  • Bringing in mentoring and tutoring programs

  • Bringing access to free financial planning and counseling services

By partnering with human service agencies, and through the support of our local business and corporate communities, we can continue to provide supportive communities where people feel they are valued and can eventually become self-sufficient and community contributors as well.
